Buying a static caravan is something more and more people are considering, and there are several reasons for that. More reasons than ever in fact, because buying a static caravan is different nowadays.
Things have changed - we’ve all changed.
Why buy a static caravan?
Well, buying a static caravan is a great way to own your own holiday home. And owning your own holiday home makes a lot of sense. It’s a less travelling, less hassle, more green and more chilled way to holiday.
Let’s be honest, you will need to drive there. If you’ve already gone for an electric car, you’ve already reduced your carbon footprint as you make tracks for your holiday home. And whatever your vehicle, your journey is somehow so self contained. You set off together, taking what you need, without luggage restrictions rules. That said, there’s a lot of ‘stuff’ you can leave at your static caravan between visits of course, and it will be there waiting for you. Plus, you know where you’re going - we all like a bit of adventure, but nobody wants unpleasant surprises in holiday accommodation. When you own the place you stay, in you don’t get those.
What you do get is a home from home, to go to whenever you want. A long stay in summer, or a weekend break in spring. Or any time - you choose. You get the feel of a caravan, the spirit of somewhere that’s not a house or a hotel. It’s certainly a cheaper option for a holiday home, but you don’t lose out on luxury. You get the fun, and the freedom, and you get some financial positives too.
It’s all starting to stack up as a ‘yes’ to that opening question of ‘why buy a static caravan?’
Where do we start when buying a static caravan?
Does it sound too obvious to say start with the location? It’s all about what you like to do and see, and the places you like to visit. The Suffolk coast for example is typical of the gems that the UK has to offer.
England’s most easterly caravan park, North Denes Caravan Park, is a brilliant location for a static caravan.
So too is Caldecott Hall Country Park in nearby Norfolk. That’s the ideal location for a holiday home if you like golf. Fancy a great golf weekend near Great Yarmouth? Go to your own static caravan holiday home at Caldecott Hall.
A bit further north there’s Mablethorpe Chalet Park. A holiday home within striking distance of the Lincolnshire Wolds. If walking is your thing, walk this way.
And even further north, you can find Redcar Beach Caravan Park. Perfectly placed on the North Yorkshire coastline with direct access to a stunning sandy beach that stretches for miles. This peaceful location offers a quiet place to enjoy your holidays, but within walking distance of the bustling and ever evolving town of Redcar.
Is buying a static caravan a good investment?
So we come back to the big one. The question in the headline. Short answer? Yes. The longer answer is yes as well actually. What makes it a longer answer is that there are several factors to take into account. For example, it’s not unrealistic to say that a static caravan might not increase in value in the same way that a ‘bricks and mortar’ property typically does. The positive side to that is that a static caravan costs less to buy at the outset. And once bought, your static caravan will give you decades of pleasure.
It can bring other rewards too. You may have seen or heard the phrase - ‘get paid for your pad’. It’s self explanatory, and a very attractive idea. Check out your chosen location because in many cases you can let out your static caravan when you’re not using it. An extra source of income - from something that already gives you so much. How good an investment is that?
But ultimately it’s about more than money. We know that now. It’s about freedom. A lifestyle. A way of sharing time with your family and friends in a place that actually feels different to the day to day.
We talk a lot nowadays about ‘making memories’, and how that’s more important than some of the more material things we used value so much. Buying your own static caravan is pretty much an ideal way of having an affordable somewhere to get together and create tomorrow’s conversations. If making memories is high on your checklist then a static caravan is a seriously good investment, set to give you a high return.
Is buying a static caravan a good investment? Well - see above! it makes financial sense. It can produce extra rental income too.
When it comes to making an investment in your future, your lifestyle and your wellbeing, it’s an absolutely rock solid investment. Invest in buying a static caravan and you’ll be making memories from day one.
