East Yorkshire is home to beautiful coastlines and countryside to be enjoyed all year round. Here’s a list of things to do in December for that festive feeling.

1. Christmas at Burton Agnes Hall & Gardens

Burton Agnes Hall is a Norman manor house built in 1173 near to the East Yorkshire coast, with a woodlands, wall garden and an adventure playground for the kids! From 14th November until 23rd December, the house will be decorated with flowers and foliage from the walled garden, the woodland will be filled with a trail of giant candy canes and there will be wood-fired pizzas, hot drunks and cakes and treats to enjoy.

2. Magical Santa Experience at Sledmere House

Sledmere House will be transformed into a magical Santa’s Grotto experience for all the family this November and December.

This years experience is not to be missed, with a day of festive cheer including festive games, christmas crafting, tractor and trailer rides to see the Red Deer and a meeting with Santa himself, amongst full access to the walled gardens and grounds.

Tickets are now available to the Magical Santa Experience at Sledmere House.
Weekends: November: 25th and 26th, December: 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th 17th, and 23rd
Weekdays: December: 15th and 18th through to 22nd

3. Sewerby Hall & Gardens

Winter Woodland at Sewerby Hall & Gardens will “take you on a magical outdoor journey of spectacular sounds and lights". The House & woodlands will be filled with lights, decorations and trees with a super festive feel, along with a marquee bar for cocktails and some festive craft stalls.

Event Date: 8th - 22rd December, tickets must be booked in advance.

4. See the East Yorkshire Wildlife

From Flamborough Cliffs to Spurn National Nature Reserve, East Yorkshire is full of wildlife hotspots. Check out the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Wild Guides for winter to see where to spot barn owls and stoats, or spot the seals & harbour porpoise.
