A 24-hour festival is coming to the Lowestoft coast this weekend.

Lowestoft is the most easterly town and part of the Sunrise Coast - the sunrise first reaches the horizon here every morning - so First Light Festival is all about celebrating this, with a multi-arts festival from midday Saturday 17th - midday Sunday 18th June.

First Light marks the first sunrise of midsummer on the UK’s most easterly shores with a celebratory weekend of unique performances and events under the solstice sun. Set amongst the golden sands and lush gardens of Lowestoft’s South Beach, First Light Festival’s outdoor programme is free, unticketed and for all.

Along with our new timings for 2023, we’re introducing Sundown Events – a series of ticketed experiences from Dusk on Saturday that invite you to explore new festival venues off the beach and across the town.

The 24 hour festival will feature DJs, artists, musicians and poets, as well as dance classes and performances, yoga, sports, short films, talks and loads of stuff for the kids to do.

The festival will spread across the seafront on stages, venues like the East Point Pavilion, gardens and the beach itself just past the South Lowestoft beach. There’s opportunities for wild camping on the beach and you can also find some of the best local food and drink, as well as local crafts and wares.
