When spring has sprung, it’s time to get out and about again. One of the great things about our wonderful counties is the sheer number of things to do. And so many of them come to life in spring.
What’s brilliant about owning a UK holiday home is getting to know the area around a special location. And nothing says more about an area than its cultural and social life.
Put a spring in your step. Take this mini tour of upcoming springtime events around the country.
Things to do in Spring in Norfolk
Norfolk Show
June brings The Royal Norfolk Show. The country’s largest two day show of its kind opens on June 26th with over 700 exhibitors. It’s Norfolk’s biggest food and drink experience. It’s a legend.
Out There Festival
The Out There International Festival of Street Arts and Circus returns to Great Yarmouth this year, bringing a whirlwind of dance, performance, and comedy from the end of May to the beginning of June. St. George's Park, the Golden Mile, and the town center come alive with vibrant acts, drawing talent from across Europe and transforming the streets into a breathtaking spectacle.
Just a short drive from Great Yarmouth, you’ll find Caldecott Hall Country Park. An idyllic spot, super suited to golfers and well within easy reach of the Norfolk coast and The Broads.

Things to do in Spring around Suffolk
Suffolk Show
There are the great regional shows. In May the Suffolk Show will be, as ever, a showcase for all that’s best in the county’s food, drink, crafts and of course agriculture.
Carlton Marshes
Staying in the east, there are always lots of things to see and do at Carlton Marshes. It was a £4m National Lottery Heritage Fund investment that helped transform these marshes into what they are today. It’s often referred to as the gateway to the Broads, and can be accessed on foot from both Waveney River Centre and Broadlands Park & Marina.
Aldeburgh Festival
If music is your thing the spring choice is amazing.
The Aldeburgh Festival has been one of the world’s leading musical showcases since 1948. Every year it delivers new commissions and classical world premiers from international stars. And it all happens on the Suffolk coast. The coast that inspired so much in the imagination of the Festival’s founder, Benjamin Britten. It’s from June 7th to 23rd and all the details are here.
First Light Lowestoft
And in a final word about Suffolk - June brings the First Light Festival. Back for its fourth year with a packed programme (free too!) it’s set to light up Lowestoft again.
Named so after the first light that is seen on the UK’s most Easterly coastline, festivalgoers can enjoy poetry, music, dancing, arts and performances all day and night.
If going east is your aim, then North Denes Caravan Park is as far east as you can go. Check it out at the country’s most easterly point, Ness Point, just down the road from First Light Festival. Or head to Broadlands Park and Marina in nearby Oulton Broad, just a few miles inland.
